Walking Advocates
Walking Advocates
As reflected in the political campaigns, change is coming. At an October retreat in rural Maryland, the Board of Directors pondered how the world of pedestrian advocacy has itself changed: mainly, the emergence of vast internet resources and new non-profits with missions overlapping ours. We decided it’s time to update our approach:
-
In December, we’ll suspend the newsletter for a couple of months and re-launch it in the spring with more focus on our web resources and helpful stories from members – both successes and pitfalls to avoid.
-
The AmericaWalks.org site will be refocused to point to the best resources available, whether from us, our members, or another organization. We’re also contemplating interactive capabilities, such as adding a blog or a posting area for jobs and services available, to facilitate member interaction.
-
Finally, we’re working on a new webinar series aimed at the needs and interests of pedestrian advocates. We’ll rely on YOU to tell us what topics you’re most interested in hearing from experts on.
America Walks members continue to make a huge difference in their communities, and we’re more than excited about the future difference we can all make together. Stay tuned and keep in touch!
