Members-Only Survey a Useful Tool
What follows is a brief summary of what we heard from you, in response to what you would like to see on an America Walks dues-paying, members-only website. If you have not taken the survey and feel the results do not reflect your opinions – you still have a chance to add your ideas here.
What technical resources would you find helpful?
Three resources emerged as the leaders:
□ 79.7% Walkable community recommendations/positions from health, transportation, other organizations
□ 69.5% Complete streets guidelines or traffic calming manuals
□ 59.3% Pedestrian design guidelines.
Common write-in answers for this question were requesting materials to share with municipal staff and elected officials.
What organizational development resources would be helpful?
Two responses rose to the top:
□ 73.2% Grants and fundraising resources applicable to pedestrian advocacy.
□ 69.6% What types of advocacy/promotion/education activities should you concentrate on first, second, third.
Additional write-in ideas suggested AmericaWalks provide ideas on other community organizations members could partner with and more how-to help with government relations and publicity.
88% or respondents would be interested in seeing another group’s successful grant applications and 86% would be willing to share their own successful grant application. If you are of that 86% willing to share – we are adding content now, send it to sbrindle(at)americawalks.org!
98% of respondents would like to see case studies or best practice examples from other members, but only 29% said they would be willing to write up their own successful project, tactic, or best practice.
82% would like to post or view notices from members of job openings, services wanted, services available, trainings/webinars, most recent newsletter, etc. Many repeated in the write-in they are most interested in job openings and trainings/webinars.
Finally, in the “What have we missed” write-in sections respondents had specific questions on their membership (the fees and renewal) or how to become a member, and suggestions of social networking options via a members or contacts list. Members were interested in connecting with fellow members who may be an expert in specific areas.
Thank you again for your responses – we are working to fill the Members Only section with content you want to see!
